Day 4: Mount Fuji and Hakone

Day 3: Kimukatsu, Ebisu

First glance of mighty Mt. Fuji's peak

Our tour lady said that Mount Fuji is a shy mountain.  You can see them from afar when clear blue sky and that's happen only few weeks in a year.  The early bus ride, we could snap the peak of Mt. Fuji but then he is snugging back into his comfort place behind those white cloud.  Even in the Fuji information centre when we made a short visit, the peak was all covered with white thick clouds.  What a shame!!!

Our tour is including the lunch set meal.  Nine small dishes accompanied with udon and steamed rice.  No 'wow' factor in this meal.  Although the food are fresh and some of them have nice flavour but overall the portion is too small.  We still left hungry by then.

After lunch, we continue our trip to Hakone.  From there we are cruising on the pristine Lake Ashi and then riding the Komagatake Ropeway up to heaven-like station where full of fogs (not always though) with 2,611 meter high-altitude.

I didn't know what's going on with the Tokyo's traffic that night.  I haven't really seen any traffic in Japan actually up to today.  We stuck on the highway for nearly 3 hours, where the tour normally get back to Tokyo by 7 or 8pm but today, we turned up extremely late, 10pm arrived at Shinjuku station.  We were starving, and didn't bother looking some restaurants in town as they might close already.  So, we were browsing inside the Shinjuku station where they definitely still open and yet busy with workers.  In quick search, we saw this congee shop, it looks cheap, nice and nearly full house too.

Pork congee with 2 pieces of Har Gao ¥980

Pork congee with soft boiled egg ¥880
We made the right decision, eating congee in nearly midnight hour, what a great way to end the day.  The congee is very light so we won't feel guilty as not much calorie needed to burn.  The congee itself really have a good flavour and that runny egg yolk on top was absolutely divined.

This shop is really famous with their mille feuille style tonkatsu, because unlike other shops, here the pork are thinly sliced then stacked them together before crumbing and deep frying.  It makes the tonkatsu very juicy and tender yet still crunchy on the coating.

Ebi Mayo ¥650

Kimukatsu

There is of course the plain Tonkatsu in the menu, but they also serve in different unique flavours like miso, garlic, plum, and cheese.  We went for the three choices set menu (¥3,980 - about $44) and we picked plain, cheese and sour plum.  The hero for me was the cheese tonkatsu, the good amount of cheese just oozed out from the middle of juicy pork fillet to lift up the good pork taste to the next level.

Look at how appetising that layered pork!!! Wonderful flavour and it got a nice texture into it as well.

Day 2: Omoide Yokocho, Shinjuku

We arrived here in Tokyo Disneyland in the early morning.  The weather wasn't in our side, but in the positive thinking we were hoping that it will be a little be quite there as people are normally avoiding the rain right?  Plus today is Wednesday not the busy weekend, so it could be our day.  What shockingly, probably everyone are having the same thought with us, they all turn up here in Disneyland.  So pack of people, I can't imagine how crowded it would be on a clear blue sky weekend!!

There are long queue in most of the attractions area, especially the popular spot.  It could take as long as as one and half hour wait in each one.  However, they offer this fast track in few of the attractions, which definitely help cutting out our waiting time.

Here some of the snip pics of inside Minnie's house.  I wish this is my house, she has sweet cute decorations and furniture.  The one caught my eyes was the oven that baking Mickey's birthday cake.

Pretzel sweet cream cheese filling ¥280

Smoked Turkey ¥500 each

Mickey mousse ice cream sandwich ¥300

Waffle and maple syrup ¥450

Here is like a replica of Harajuku's cosplay but more in theme, most of the people dressing to their favourite cartoon character.  They are kindly to take pictures with us.  Unlike Movie World in Gold Coast, where we have to queue and pay to take pictures with them.
