Last Day In Sapporo

Breakfast from family mart underneath the hotel
Last day and our flight was around 4pm.  But we left the hotel early and arrived airport about 12pm.  Because we wanted to visit that Doraemon Waku Waku Sky Park.  The airline counter wasn't opened for about 3 hours before departure but you have an option to keep your luggage in the locker provided around the airport.

Buying ticket through ticket machine
The park is definitely for doraemon mania.  All about Doraemon, more like the photo spots.  And at the end they have this short performance and photo session with the 'Star'.

I just posted one photo because I don't want to spoil the surprise

Bye bye Hokkaido...  Til we meet again...

Last Day In Sapporo

From Noboribetsu Back to Sapporo

We spotted this Kit Kat store in Sapporo (around Tanuki Koji).  They sell nearly all flavors of Kit Kat from all over Japan.  Not only that, they also have Calbee products in the shop.  One stop for snacks heaven and good for souvenirs as well.

Time for lunch.  Near Tanuki Koji we found this restaurant sells some sushi and other don dishes.  If I weren't wrong the name is Sai Kaku Restaurant.  The price is pretty cheap (as it was our last day and our wallet was soooo thin).  When we entered the shop, there is this long narrow counter bar seating.  But then the lady showed us inside, which is bigger space and divided into small private rooms.

I was aiming for their buta don since I saw menu in front of the restaurant.  And my hubby ordered sushi plater for himself.

Buta don 850yen
This time my dish was the winner.  He was extremely jealous with my food.  I would go mad too if it was the other way around.  That was the best buta don dish I've ever eaten in my life.  Guarantee that!!!!  The pork was not only juicy and tender but very very flavorsome, slightly sweet and sticky from the sauce with a touch of black pepper.  And above all, the meat is unbelievably loaded.  For 850yen, it was a great deal for sure.  And that onsen tamago (egg) has been cooked perfectly.  The egg yolk was running through the rice when cracked open.  Taken this dish to another level.  Perfect dish.  FLAWLESS!!!!!

Sushi platter 1,290yen
He kept offering some of his sushi pieces in exchange for some of my pork.  Nah... nahh..  I just stick with mine, thank you....  But his sushi was good too actually, fresh but not as good as mine.  Winner!!!!!

I saw this tram around Sapporo city, but have never caught once.  And not sure too how to pay money or the route.  So is there anyone could tell me what is it or how to catch it?

We came back again to this Sweet Bisse for hunting some sweets.  This time we went for some chocolate strawberry cake and Hokkaido milk soft serve.  Yum.. Yummm...

Soft serve 250yen

From there, we walked pass this fish market in Sapporo, called Nijo market.  We had to give it a missed though.  We were so full.  They sell all the fresh seafood dishes in here.  However, it is slightly smaller than Curb market.  And they have the combination that I have been looking all for so long, salmon, ikura and sea urchin don.  Damn!!!!!!!

For dinner, we had some ramen meal just 1 block away from our hotel.

Dinner at Stellar Place and Bisse Sweets for Dessert

Kinotoya bake cheesetart - yumm

I felt like having some beef that night.  At first, we planned to go to Beef Impact but after a tiring day at the zoo, we then were looking for some nice meal at JR Station.  That was when I saw this poster on the ground floor of Stellar Place.  Stacks of grilled beef with raw egg yolk on top served with rice, chips and some fresh vegetables.  Answered my want.  The shop is located on the 6th floor.

stew 480¥

Beef stack 1,500¥
The food in this restaurant was just OK.  My beef dish was very huge, layer after layer of big chunk of beef.  But I found that the meat was quite bland though it was juicy.  On the other hand, the stew was way too salty.  But that wagyu rice bowl saved the day.

For our sweets tonight, we tried a few range of sweets from Bisse Sweets.  We had Kinotoya omellet (sponge-like sandwich filled with fresh fruits and cream), Bocca pudding and Hokkaido milk soft serve.  Bisse Sweets is like a food court place but serve only dessert and sweets.  We were overwhelmed by the choices.  We even went there for second round.

Look at how many types of cakes just from one shop - How can I not be crazy!!!

Kinotoya omellette 518¥
This was real good.  Sponge was as soft as cloud, the fresh cream wasn't overly sweet either.  And those fresh fruits compliment each other very well.

It was a chilly walk to our hotel.  After a longggggg day, since wee managed to took some photos of Sapporo TV Tower and shopping at Aurora and Pole town shopping arcade.

Genghis Khan (Grilled lamb) at Daruma shop, Sapporo

Previously:
Shiroi Koibito Park

Another food NOT-to-be-missed while in Sapporo is this BBQ lamb or genghis khan.  One of the famous chain of grilled lamb restaurant is called Daruma shop.  We went to the closer one to our hotel on that night, which was Daruma 6.4.

The direction on google is quite confusing, but yet we didn't give up.  I wasn't sure what street it led us but we ended up in the wrong side, so we had to walk along the alley all the way to the other corner and found this shop.  It was nearly 7 pm and the shop packed with so many hungry customers.

The seats are pretty squishy but there are locker spaces to keep your coat and bag.  Which is good otherwise, my coat will end up smelling so smoky.  There are a few different types of lamb meat to order and some condiments as well.  For 2 person, we got one griller and promptly served with some onions and a bit of pork oil chunk.  The order actually came out quick.  And we were ready for cooking and eating.

I heard some bloggers or reviews complained about how expensive and small portion of the serving were but honestly I didn't feel any of those.  They have a good quality of meat that tender and juicy, not gamey at all, the price wise is pretty reasonable.  That's why this shop is always busy especially with locals.

getting our hot griller ready

Listen to the sizzling sound was so jolly

Look at that oily part, slightly burned which gave a better taste sensation
I love the oily part of the lamb when grilling meat.   Lean meat!!!  Go away!!!  How about you guys?

Grill and beer-match made in heaven
For this meal we spent 6,210¥ for 2 and half people (my 5 yo son).  We got 4 serves of meat and one large beer, kimchi and 3 bowls of rice.

Hot chocolate 648¥ and sakura 399¥

They have the best hot chocolate in town.  It was very rich and strong of chocolate taste.  Loving every drop of it.  Their sakura triffle, it was nice as well, creamy and smooth texture.  Of course, this is because Hokkaido milk is very top quality and everyone knows it.

I used to see in the internet about this face-print on the snow and so want to try it.  On the way back to the station, we saw this thick pile of snow along the way.  There wasn't anyone around at that time otherwise people might think we were crazy.  We stuck our head on the soft cloudy ice for a few seconds and gave it some pressure on it and moving from left to right to get the whole face printed.  But here what we got.  Unfortunately, we had failed!!!!!!  It doesn't look like face at all.  Yet my face felt numb for a minute, so coldddd.  Have anyone ever tried this??
