Royal Taste Dim Sum, Krabi And Dinosea World Park, Phuket

Early in the morning we had dim sums breakfast from one of the famous dim sum restaurant in Krabi city.  Pretty similar style with the one in Hat Yai but in here was less hectic and the service was far better.  We need to choose whatever dim sum we want, then the waiters will heat them up and serve them on our table.  Great range of choices from classic style dim sum like shaomai, bbq pork bun to more fancy dishes like chawanmushi (steamed egg) and mussels.  They also serve a delicious and herbally ba-kut-teh.  Warm and hearty spare ribs soup that goes well with a bowl of steamed rice.

After spent a short one night in Krabi City, we keep heading further down south toward Phuket.  On the way we stopped at the water theme park, called Dinosea World Park.  The theme park is decorated with soft rubber dinosaurs, some can even move and make a noise too.  The water park is so huge and is actually great for racing-like water sport competition.  We tried only for the junior one and it was already pretty hard for me who lack of exercises.  I even lost to my own son who only 5 years old at that time.  The challenge stages were too hard or I was just plainly unfit???

The scariest challenge is this 6 meters jump.  Are you dare??

This knomjean shop is very famous among locals.  Knomjean is Thai-syle thin rice noodle and usually accompanied with green curry on top.  This dish was flavorsome, a little spicy and very thick broth.  They also serve complimentary condiments on the table for us.  One more menu to try from this hop is definitely their fried chicken.  It is one of the best fried chicken I've ever had.  It was full of spice, the skin was crisp yet tender and juicy inside.  Great meal we had there.

Two thumbs up for this fried chicken

This hotel although the service was good and the room was clean and spacious as well, but there was a little bit confusing at the check in point.  Where we actually booked the rooms at Krabi city view hotel through Agoda and we expected to stay in that building but they let us stayed at the building across the road with the sign saying that Krabi Guest Hotel.  But they insisted that it is belong to the same owner and the room with the promotion is apparently in that building where instead of looking like 4* hotel, it was more like a hostel.  It was kinda weird but we gave it a try and look around the room.  It was quite a bright comfortable room (as per picture above), so no fuss and it was only for a night anyway.

Phi Phi Island Day Tour

In the morning we started our day with light and delicious breakfast from the hotel.   Then we drove the car with our luggages and moved to different hotel.  Still in Krabi, but we will stay in the middle of city for 1 night.  But on the way we stopped at Namtok Ron (hot spring) and the Sa Morakot or Emerald Pool.  Emerald pool is one of the unseen place in Thailand.  The clear blue natural pool come out from nowhere and just appeared in the middle of forest.

Namtok Ron (Hot spring)
We arrived there pretty early in the morning and yet many people already soaked themself in the hot spring.  Not too worry too much, people keeps coming and gone as majority people can stand the heat not more than 20 minutes.  After a nice calming spa, we went to visit the cold pool next.  It is located only a short drive from the hot spring.

As I mentioned earlier that the pool is located in the middle of forest, that's why we need to walk for a bit until we get to the pool.  The water here is the opposite temperature with the hot spring, it is cold water.  Only my son and my hubby jumped in the water, they really can't stand to not play in this clear blue water.   It was a fun 'wet' day.

Phi Phi Island Day Tour

Previously:

Today, we were going to Phi Phi Island day trip that booked from Wang Sai Travel agent.  They picked us up at the hotel to the meeting point.  In there, we need to check in at the counter before boarding the boat.

He was so excited riding on this fast open window van.  His expression is priceless

Check in counter (make sure with what island are you going to)
This day drip stops at a few beaches, some sightseeing from the boat and snorkeling as well as buffet lunch provided from one of the resort.  That day, the sky wasn't that clear and open.  A little cloudy so the boat ride was quite bumpy but we all were safe and sound.

PS.  Please stay safe for everyone planning to go on the boat trip.  If the weather condition is not possible on that day, please cancel the trip just for safety reason.  As accidents had occurred twice already this year in the same area.

This famous Maya beach is so beautiful, the water is so clear until you can see fish swimming around with your bare eyes.  However, on the other hand, this place is very touristy.  So many tourist boats park on the side of the beach and left us tiny spaces to play water.

Viking island
We only passed by this Viking island.  It is a private own for swallow farming.  Strictly NO entering this area as our guide mentioned.  Because the swallows need a peaceful place and it is guarded by gun men as well.  Therefore, we only sightseeing for afar.

Another special spot is where the monkeys live on the rock mountain.  They are smartly be able to move around between one stone to another without falling to the water.  Can you spot the monkey?

Lunch buffet

snorkeling time

time for afternoon snacks

continue watertime in the hotel's swimming pool
We back to our hotel by 4.30pm, so we still have a bit of time to swim before get ready for dinner in the town.

Tha Pom Klong Song Nam and Sunda Resort, Krabi

Last year, we spent another new year trip on the road again.  This time we went down south Thailand.  We stopped by at Krabi, Phuket and Chumphon.  This trip consists of sea, sun and scrumptious food.  As usual, we drove out at midnight from Bangkok.  Nice safe drive on the empty road and we arrived at Chumphon early in the morning.  Ready to have breakfast in one of the biggest resting area with a lot of different food stalls.  From Southern cuisine to central Bangkok food.  Khun Sarai Restaurant provides huge huge dining space with clean and relatively cheap food.  On the table, they readily serve complimentary set of fresh vegetables with chili dipping sauce (nam phrik) and cold drinking water.

Muslim style roti and chicken curry with hot milk tea
This breakfast was absolutely a good morning kick for me.  The spice and fragrant smell from this curry nicely wakes me up in that early morning.  The flavor was much better than what it looks.  The slightly crispy roti on the outer matches very well with the flavorsome curry.

After that, we went to Tha Pom Klong Song Nam or "Two Water Canal".  It is a natural mangrove where two type of water running through the area.  The salty water from the sea meets the fresh water from the river.  You also can find some type of aqua animals that lives only in this type of water.

Nearly as big as my palm (shellfish)

We stayed for 2 nights in this Sunda Resort at Aonang, Krabi.  After checking in and relaxing for a bit, we went straight to had dinner at Wang Sai Restaurant while watching the beautiful sunset as well.

Stir fried prawn with stinky bean

Stir fried melinjo leave with egg

In Krabi, their specialties are stinky bean (sator) and melinjo leaves.  Sator for anyone who never tried before, it could be quite extreme and pungent.  But a lot of people are actually like this stinky bean.  And the melinjo leave was delicous with slightly bitterness taste within.

fresh, huge and well cooked shellfish

deep fried battered pineapple
I always have deep fried banana but never actually tried battered pineapple.  It was surprisingly yummy, the pineapple still keeping their texture crunchy yet soft, sweet with somewhat sourness touch.  It made a delicious sweet for sure.
