Perisher Valley, Snowy mountain

Our big family trip of this year.  Big fat cold winter trip with a bunch of kiddos, it would be one most memorable journey of the year.  We booked a people mover from Sixt car rental.  Very easy and convenient with reasonable price as well.  The car looks brand new and super clean too.

I always love a road trip, there's always something exciting happens on the way.  Charming scenery, counting the road kills and multiple drive-thrus for constantly hungry tummies to be filled.  It took around 6 hours from Sydney to Jindabyne.

Big Merino, Goulburn

We were extremely excited when we saw the white powder on the mountain tip from afar. Yuhuuu...  We're getting there, babiehhh

We rented a unit from airbnb.  It is located in the middle of Jindabyne town and just less than 5 minutes drive to Nuggets Crossing Shopping Centre.  The place is clean with modern kitchen and spacious balcony overlooking the lake.  It is pretty decent place.

A nice stroll by the lake in the morning

Nuggets Crossing Shopping Centre has everything you kinda need for a short snow trip actually.  From buying groceries necessities, hiring snow gears or getting some take away meals.

I recommend for people to hire the snow gears and winter apparels while you're in town rather than up there in the mountain.  Although it might be a little hassle to have to carry them around but up in the mountain, it would cost sometimes double or even triple.  But totally your choice.

We rented our winter stuff from Alpine Sport store.  The staff were friendly and helpful.  Toboggan for kid is only $12 while adult is $17 and snow boots for only $15.  Very good price.

This time we chose catching Skitube to Perisher instead of driving our own car up there.  Much more convenient and quicker too.  Skitube is a Swiss designed rack-rail train between Bullocks Flat to Perisher Valley and Blue Cow.  You can buy the daily ticket or overnight return ticket when you stay overnight in the mountain or season pass for unlimited rides during the year snow season.  I recommend buying your ticket in advance and you will get some discount if you do.  Don't forget to buy the mountain pass as well for $5/person.  There is a snowsports hire too in the station.  In case, if anyone need to borrow some snow gears.

We drove and parked our car in the Bullocks Flat, that's about less than 20 minutes drive from Jindabyne.  The train runs regularly every 20-30 minutes.

Nice hot chocolate to warm up cold winter morning like this

Inside carriage is very capacious, plenty of space to put your snow gear.

Locker to rent up in the mountain to keep your personal belongings

Snowsport school for kids sounds very interesting.

When you visited snowy mountain at the beginning of winter season, you will get the white pile of snow on the ground and it's still thick and soft.

Kids love building a snow man

At night, we just had some Thai take away.  After a long tiring day, it's always nice to just chill out and relax in our place.  Thank you for reading everyone.  Will see you in my next post and Octie Appetie...
