After spending a bit of time wandering around the night market in Phuket Old Town, we headed to a restaurant just a little away from the tourist crowds.  A local friend recommended this place, and it is definitely did not disappoint.

The restaurant has been featured in the Michelin Guide since 2023 and has kept its spot every year since.  It specialises in authentic Phuket cuisine, with several dishes that you won't easily find at other restaurant.

I honestly can't remember the last time I went to a restaurant where every single dish we ordered was delicious.  But this was one of those rare places.  We ordered six dishes and every one of them was amazing.

I have to apologies because I probably can't tell you the name of each dish. My local friend took charge of ordering, there wasn't an English menu, and I was just happy to trust their choices!  Hopefully, the photos will do a better job than I can.

Deep fried fish egg with garlic

One dish that really surprised me was the fish roe fried with garlic.  I'd never tried it before, but after one bite, it instantly earned a spot on my list of favourite dishes.  The fish roe was rich, while the crispy garlic added so much flavour and texture.

One dish I have mention is the Moo Hong.  It was incredibly tender, practically melting in your mouth.  The sauce had the perfect balance of sweet and salty, making it one of the standout dishes of the meal. if you ever visit, it is definitely a must order.

Another standout was the stir-fried stick beans with shrimp and kapi (shrimp paste).  It was delicious and the kapi used just right, not too overpowering.  So, it enhanced the dish without masking the fresh flavours of the shrimp and stick beans.

We also ordered another fish roe dish, but this one came with shredded green mango salad.  It was even better!  The combination of sweet, spicy, and tangy flavours was perfectly balanced, making every bite incredibly refreshing and addictive.

Thai Milk Tea

After that big meal, we still somehow found room to satisfy our sweet cravings at a nearby roti shop.  Roti is another popular street snack in Phuket and there was no way we were leaving without trying a few.

We ordered several to share.  Our all-time favourite is still the Nutella and banana roti, but you can never go wrong with the classic egg and condensed milk either.  Both were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and absolutely delicious.

Out of curiosity, we also ordered one that looked like a little snake.  We had no idea what was inside, but it turned out to be absolutely loaded with butter!  Sorry, we forgot to take a photo of the inside because we were way too excited to cut it open.  The moment we sliced into its little tummy, melted butter cam oozing out like molten lava.

As fun as it looked, it wasn't our favourite.  It was just a little too greasy and all that butter overpowered the sweet, crispy roti flavour we love.

To finish off our sweet feast, we washed everything down with a refreshing icy Thai milk tea.  The perfect way to end another round of delicious Phuket Street food.
