Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel

Previously:

We were there early January and so lucky can still see this huge Christmas tree in their lounge on his last day.  Because right the very next day, they put it away.

We get to keep the room swipe card.  It has a Disneyland character printed on it.

After came back from the park, we got our room ready and it was time to explore what's look like inside.  I was very very thrilled, more than my kids maybe 😁.  The room was very spacious with a big bathroom too.  I really like the touch of Disney here and there through their decorations and furniture.  I was also overjoyed with those cute Disney slippers that fit for four of us.

When you log in into their Wi-fi, there is an option to register with your email then you will get this 5% discount that can be used in Disney stores both at the hotel and inside the park for merchandises.

Nasi goreng HK$268 (about A$52.70)

At night, as we were too lazy and too late to go anywhere.  We as usual ordered in-room dining.  The first dish was a fried rice that comes with one grilled prawn, a stick of chicken satay, a piece of fried chicken as well as fried egg, turnip pickles and prawn cracker.

Unadon bento HK$298 (about A$ 58.50)

The next one was grilled unagi on steamed rice served with nori tamagoyaki, miso eggplant, a few chilled cherry tomatoes in plum wine and rather sad looking assorted tempura.  They were tiny pieces of mushroom and pumpkin tempura that their look didn't blend in together with the rest of items in the bento.  Beside that grilled eel tasted spectacular and I loved their miso eggplant as well.

Spaghetti Bolognese HK$268 (about A$ 52.70)

Their spaghetti was OK. A Mickey Mouse toast on top was adorable.

Another experience not to be missed, if you were staying at Hong Kong Disney Hotel is having breakfast buffet in Enchanted Garden restaurant.  You will get a chance to meet two random Disney characters while dine in.  It was a nice encounter and memorable moment.  You will have your personal time to meet and greet also taking some pictures with them without any disruptions.  Compared the food they offer maybe not worth the price we paid.  But get a closer look of your favourite characters or seeing a big smile on your kid face, something money can't buy.  I mean yes, you are buying it with money but it is well spent.

If you cannot go for breakfast, try dinner there.  It is even better because you can meet three different characters instead of two.

This prawn sesame toast is a-must try item here.  It was surprisingly delicious.  Crispy crust with a piece of prawn and generous amount of sesame on top.  It was a tasty teeny-weeny prawn toastie.

Another great airline dish from Cathay Pacific, BBQ pork with rice.  It was flavoursome and very saucy.  I would say it is as good as BBQ pork which we could get from any decent Hong Kong BBQ restaurants.

Cheerio Hong Kong. Till me meet again and Octie Appetie all. See you in my next blog in Bangkok. In the meantime, take care and enjoy your life.

Hong Kong Disneyland

For this school break, we headed back to Thailand and then went to Japan for a few weeks before coming back home to work and doing it all over again.  We recently heard that Disneyland Hong Kong has newly opened World of Frozen or most likely to be known as Arendelle Castle or Elsa's Ice Palace.  This new Frozen theme land in Hong Kong Disneyland is apparently the first and the only in the world 'at the moment'.  While we flew with Cathay, we made a short one night stop purely to visit this place.  We also stayed at one of the Hong Kong Disneyland resorts for a convenient and easy access to a magical journey.

Their airline food wasn't that bad actually.  Especially, with this pork congee for breakfast, it was a little too salty but otherwise nice for rejuvenating from a jet-lagged syndrome.

With Cathay flight, we arrived Hong Kong airport at dawn.  So, we kinda have a full day and half until our next flight to Bangkok tomorrow afternoon.  From the airport, we catch taxi to take us directly to the resort.  They have a few taxi zones at the airport, just making sure to get to the right stand.  To go to Disneyland resort, you need to get a taxi from Lantau stand.  The taxi ride took around 30 minutes and we paid HK$ 197.

As we arrived extremely early, we just dropped our luggage then washed our face and got into our costume ready for some fun and good time.  I will come back with more review on the resort itself, what is look like inside our room and surrounding.  It will be on my next post, please stay tuned.

Ok, so now, back onto Disneyland story.  From the resort, there is a free shuttle bus to take us to and from Disneyland theme park.  We bought our park entry in advance from Klook.  Totally recommended and keep looking out for some discounts from time to time.  We bought the exclusive World of Frozen ticket.  Just a little extra but it is including an early entry permit.  It means we could get in into the park an hour earlier than regular ticket holders.  It was absolutely worthed it.  Even though, there were lots of people with early entry already queueing in front of the entrance gate by the time we arrived.  Once we got through the entrance gate, we headed straight to Frozen Ever After ride.  I can't believe my eyes that people were actually running toward places they wanted to go.  However, when we were there at the ride, it was still very little queue, nearly nothing.  But not long after the park opened for everyone, we saw the line was massive and it would take about 1 hour wait minimal.  Phewww...  It made my day.  Not only that, but we were able to take lots of pictures on important landmarks with hardly noone too.

After the ride, I just remembered that we haven't got a proper breakfast this morning beside that flight meal.  We spotted this restaurant just outside Frozen Ever After.  It is called Golden Crocus Inn restaurant.  Although, it would not be my first choice to start with.  I am more like a person who looking for a theme food in a theme park place.  But we were really starving, so no fuss and I can just have anything for now.  Their menu comes as a set.  So, you will get one cookie and a drink as well with your main meal.  Everything tastes yummy when you are super hungry.

Chicken roll with ham and cheese HK$218 (around A$43)

Braised lamb shank HK$ 238 (about A$ 47)

After that, still in Arendelle area, we grabbed a few sweets from Northern Delight shop.  They make all these cute little goodies, like cake, muffin, donut and also soft serve.

There is a clear window where you can see how they make their goodies.  So enchanting...

Olaf soft serve HK$ 65 (about A$ 13)

Olaf donut HK$ 50 (about A$ 10)

Mickey Mouse waffle with drink HK$ 90 (about A$ 17.75)

I don't understand why everytime we come to Disneyland, we need to get this Mickey Mouse pancake.  Their taste is pretty mediocre yet it comes with a pricey tag.  But still, without them, a trip to Disneyland won't feel completed.

Steamed corn HK$ 30 (about A$ 6)

Always a happy moment when meeting with your favourite characters.  Brings back the inner child in me.

We missed the parade because by afternoon, we were really exhausted and drained out from not having a good night sleep on the plane.  We went back to our hotel room and had a nap.  What worst was by the time we got up it was already nearly 8pm when the fireworks about to light up.  We ended up miss that firework show as well.  At first, we planned to stay at Disneyland Resort because it will be convenient to travel back and forth to the park, but we really screwed it.  What a shame!!!
