Warwick Hotel, Fiji

Previously:
Nadi, Fiji

Warwick Hotel is situated in Coral Coast and it is about 2 hours' drive down south from the airport.  The coast water in this area is much much better and clearer, though their sand isn't white and fine, they consist of millions coral pieces, sometimes makes my feet hurt.  Lucky thing, you can easily spot many fishes in the shallow waters from the shore.

We arrived at the hotel, just in time for lunch and while our room wasn't ready yet, we decided to grab something to eat in the meantime.  The good thing here, with any paying adult meals, the kids can eat free from the buffet bar.

There weren't many items in kids' lunch buffet.  They had pasta, battered fish, some greens and sweets.  It may not seem like much, but sufficient.

Catch of the day FJ$42

It looks like a piece of steak, isn't it? It was actually a big chunk of tuna, but it was overcooked, so the meat was quite dry.  Besides, it still tasted delicious.  The dish came with some mashed potato, grilled vegetables and lemon butter.  That butter helped bringing the moistness into the fish.

Lamb rogan josh FJ$42

In Fiji, the majority of people were Melanesian or Indian background.  Therefore, you can widely find Indian food in this island.  Here, they do a really good Indian cuisine, like this rogan josh for example.  It was moderately hot but packed with spices and flavours.

The room was huge.  We got two double beds plus an extra single bed.

On those two nights we stayed in this hotel, we didn't go out anywhere.  We had all our meals here from the hotel restaurant.  There are four restaurants here, main buffet room, Japanese food, Italian food and the one for a romantic dinner - Wicked Walu Restaurant.

We had buffet from the main restaurant on our first night.  Same like lunch time which kids eat free with any adult buffet.  A dinner buffet costs $79 per adult.  Plus, the kid gets their own dining space and food where they can watch movies from the big screen as well.   There were more food items at dinner time compared to lunch.

While for us adult, there were filled with many Indian and Fijian dishes, so heavy on grilled meats and rice also some traditional dishes were available too, like kokoda and palusami.

The food here is kinda hit and missed.  They do good curry, but their grilled meats were overcook and dried.  But the most memorable from all was one of their desserts called vudi vakasoso.  It was easily made to the top ten best dessert I have ever eaten in my entire life.  It is a simple dish which is banana that plunging in coconut milk.  I am pretty sure that they must have caramelised the banana first to add more sweetness before cooked again into that sweet coconut milk.  And there are some hints of aromatic spice, it could be cardamon and cinnamon.

In the hotel, every night after dinner, they host different performances or activities.  Like tonight, they performed folk songs and dances.
