We stayed at Novotel hotel in South Wharf, it has a great location, right opposite DFO. Best location for shopaholics. The closest tram stop from here is the one near the casino. Although this stop is outside the free-tram zone, however, if you want to go to mid-city area (anywhere within green coloured zone), locals have advised me that people don't normally pay when get in from there as it is only one stop away from free zone.
What I love about Melbourne is that they have free tram services in this town. Sydney, better look up on this!!! Btw this "3 days 2 nights" trip in Melbourne would be full-on eating trip for us. We didn't visit any tourist places or sightseeing. So, unfortunately if you wanna get ideas for places to visit in Melbourne, unfortunately, you are in the wrong blog. But, if you wanna know good restaurants to eat, YES!! You are definitely in the right place.
