Laurieton, NSW

Previously:

On the way back to NSW, people recommended us to stop at Look At Me Now Headland, where we can find wild Kangaroo wandering around the beach.  Rare scene, although this is not the only beach area in Australia to be able to meet kangaroo.  However, in here, they are plenty and don't really care of us, even though we get pretty close but not too close though, they just ignore us and keep enjoying what they are doing.

Nothing much in Laurieton town, we just break down the journey coming back to Sydney from Gold Coast.  Stayed at Mariner Motel in this town and found that the room was quite big and clean, so we were totally satisfied with this motel.  And surprisingly, we came across one great yet cheap cafe near our motel.  Their coffee was amazing and we went crazy ordering lots of items from their menu.  We got ham and cheese croissant, bacon and egg wrap, cheese toast, hash brown and toasted banana bread.  The foods were simple, but they excelled them.

Movie World and The Loose Moose, Gold Coast

Previously:

When we are talking about Gold Coast, beside their lively vibe, the dynamic of Surfers Paradise and tropical breeze.  In this town, you can find some fun, excitement and thrill, all of these emotions in this one famous Warner Bros theme park, Movie World.  We can easily spend a good whole day here.  If you have been to Disneyland or Universal Studio, Movie World cannot compare to any of those.  But hey, if you are a fan of Warner Bros characters or if there is some inner child somewhere inside you, this place is great with its own features.

Loose Moose was the one I mentioned on my previous post.  This restaurant serves great piece of grilled meat with a nice and funky setting and ambience.  Although, the place reflects more for adult with all those dim lightings, but my kids were enjoying their time and food in this place too.

Eye fillet $49

Apologies for the low quality of picture.  I was only using camera from my phone and the light was very dim.  But the photo cannot justify the taste of the food though.  They served one of the best steaks I have ever tried.  The meat was tender and juicy.  Their mashed potato was creamy and simply yummm.

Half rack pork ribs $46

The ribs were fell off the bones and bashed with heap of BBQ sauce.  They were finger lickin' good too.

Woodroffe Hotel, Gold Coast

Previously:

From Coffs Harbour, it takes another three and half hours' drive to Gold Coast.  In here, we stayed at a pretty new hotel in Southport area with contemporary style rooms, this hotel is named Woodcroffe Hotel.

The room is pretty simple but super clean.  They also serve basic breakfast menus but are delicious.  The first day, I had an avocado toast and grilled salmon served with steamed rice on the second day.  The price is reasonable and quite filling too.

It is only a short post about the hotel, please keep on reading the next post for one of the best steak restaurants we had while we’re here.  Stay tuned and see you soon.  Octie Appetie…

Driving trip to Gold Coast from Sydney

We had a short driving trip to the North part of Oz which was around Coffs Harbour and Gold Coast for five days four nights.  We did an overnight stay in Coffs Harbour then spent the next two nights in Gold Coast after that on our last night, we slept in a small town called Laurieton.

What I remembered from our last road trip to Coffs Harbour ages ago, it took us nearly 8 hours drive from Sydney to Coffs Harbour but surprisingly, when we looked at the GPS this time, it said only five and half hours.  Not sure whether they have a new highway, or we are on a different route.

Between Sydney to Coffs Harbour, in Kempsey to be exact, there is this pie shop called Fredo pies.  They are famous with their pies, easily guessed, right!!  However, this time around, I noticed that they have much much less items and they don't seem like doing so well like they used to be in the past.

Their pies were still good but they burnt my ham and cheese croissant.  What a shame!!!

We were kinda in a tight budget, so we stayed at this Ibis Budget hotel for a night instead of a luxury hotel type thing.  Honestly, the place is not bad at all.   It is located right in the city centre and I like the bunk bed in the room although our AC was not working but not bothering us as the weather outside was even colder than an AC.

We had some Thai food that night but won’t mention it here in my post because I don’t recommend this restaurant, their food is totally the opposite of anything authentic and everything tasted too sweet.  We were so disappointed.

Early the next morning, we made a brief stop at the Clog Barn before heading to our next stop, Gold Coast.  It is free entry and you get to see the Holland miniatures and there is a cafe and shop selling souvenirs as well.
