Last night in Xishuangbanna

Tai Lue style temple
This Dai style temple is pretty similar in architecture and style with Thai temple.  One of another must influenced each other.  According historian, Northern Thai people actually came from Southern part of China.  That probably makes sense.  Because not only the food, house style, they also share similar language as well.

Next, we visited the biggest Pu Er Cha (or Puer tea) brewing company on the way back to Meng La.  Not only tasting the tea, we also can admire the tea leaves that they dried and make as an art.  For examples, as 3D picture in frame and the UNESCO (the biggest) round tea monument made purely from tea leaves.

Last night here in Xishuangbanna, we just had a nice local street food with our guide.  She took us to the local Meng La spicy noodle and skewers.  It was a balmy night but with good companions and great food, I couldn't complain nothing.

Until we see you again Xishuangbanna.  Bye for now and Octie Appetie...

Things to do in Xishuangbanna

Manting park
This park is famous with their bird watching (peacock).  At some specific time of the day, they will call the peacocks with some special flute and ready baskets full of food.  The peacocks in huge groups just fly down to the land in front of you, hunting for the food.  As you know, peacocks are the animals that really like to show off, the more people surrounding them, they will spread their charming colorful wings.  The purpose of doing this is actually to attract the opposite sex.

Then we continued our tour to the minority villages of Tai Lue and Aini.  In here, they show how the people live in daily life, including their traditional house, cloths and music and dance folks as well.  Not forget to mention about their authentic cuisine and liquor that we can taste in here.

Aini style bbq chicken and pork

The meat is delicious, very aromatic and served with chilli dipping flake mixed with some salt and (I don't know what) some black burned smokey thing.  But overall it is taste good.

Aini house
Their tradition is a little weird for me.  The house is like one big room with the partition for the bedroom separating between woman and man's bed.  They are sleeping on the separate bed (I just wonder how can they have bubs?).  Then the kitchen is located in the middle of the room.

I love this sweet pineapple black sticky rice.

Tai Lue traditional house style
Tai Lue house is more like an ordinary house where their bedroom is in separate room and outside is the lounge and kitchen complete with balcony on the outside.

We ended the night with the Paranasri show.  It showcased their traditional music and dance performances while collaborated with their national dresses and cloths.
